CAN YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE???!
“Oh my God! Hong Kong is so hot!” Canadians would say.
“Oh my God! Canada is so cold!” People from Hong Kong would say.
It’s not even winter yet, but the weather is getting cold. I’m not looking forward to winter…
My FIRST WINTER in Canada
My first reaction was, “I WANNA GO HOME”. Yes. I wanted to go back to Hong Kong. I felt like I moved into a freezer. My first winter in Canada was a nightmare to me…
- I got sick at least once every two weeks.
- I got asthma attack more often.
- I got Scarlet fever.
- I had sore throat everyday .
- Dried, and irritated skin.
Sometimes I wish I could stay in Canada during summer, and stay in Hong Kong during winter. Summer in Canada is nice. It isn’t as hot as Hong Kong. During the summer time, the temperature often can go beyond 30 degrees celsius in Hong Kong. How about winter? Winter in Hong Kong is like fall in Canada.The temperature rarely hits below 10 degrees celsius. In Hong Kong, I don’t have to worry about getting sick while waiting for the bus (I don’t have a car, so I have to take bus…).
Winter in Canada:
I would be thankful if the temperature doesn’t hit below negative. I would be thankful if my boots and socks remained dry from the now. I would be thankful if I don’t fall. I would be thankful if I don’t have to go to school because of snowstorm! (You know that you love snowstorm when you have midterms, assignments, or morning class!)
After staying in Canada for few years, I learned how to keep myself warm.
- Keep a scarf and a pair of gloves in your bag.
- Use your headphone as earmuff when you are cold.
- The penguin effect. Stick close with your friends or people around you when you’re waiting for bus.
- Wear a pair of legging underneath your pants.
